Submit your Manuscript to the Journal of Engineering and Sustainable Development

Submission Process
Thank you for choosing to submit your manuscript to this journal. These instructions will ensure that your manuscript can move through peer review and publication efficiently. Therefore, take the time please to read and go through the instructions strictly, because following the instructions will ensure your manuscript satisfies the requirements of the journal. 

Five copies of the manuscript should be submitted by the researcher, four of them without the researcher(s) name for the purpose of being sent to the reviewers. The fifth copy contains the name of the researcher(s) kept as a reference. A typical manuscript for this journal should not exceed 6000 words and not less than 3000 words to satisfy the journal requirements. Author(s) must use the journal's template, provided at the end of this page, to prepare and present the manuscript. In the meantime, the author(s) must attach the similarity check report for the manuscript along with the copies of the manuscript; the acceptable similarity index is less than 20% by Turnitin (Internet-based plagiarism detection service).

The submission fees for national researchers of professor academic title are 100000 Iraqi dinars, 75000 Iraqi dinars for assistant professor or below titles, and 30000 Iraqi dinars for the graduate (or undergraduate) student where the student is the first author of the manuscript.  The international researchers are exempted from the submission fees (125 USD) for one year beginning from 22 September 2019 according to the decision made by the college board (the publisher) in its first meeting of the academic year 2019-2020. 

Submission checklist

Authors can utilize the following list to complete the final check of the submission before it is sent to the journal for review. 

Make sure that the following items are there:

One author has been chosen as the corresponding author with contact details.

All essential files have been provided.


  • The name(s) of the author(s);

  • A concise and informative title;

  • The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s);

  • The official e-mail address, and telephone number(s) of the corresponding author;

  • If available, the 16-digit ORCID of the author(s);

  • An abstract of no more than 250 words  must be presented in both languages (English and Arabic) irrespective of the main language of the manuscript

  • Include keywords (a maximum of 5 keywords);

  • All figures (include related descriptive captions). Permission must be obtained for use of copyrighted material from other sources (including the Internet);

  • All tables (include titles, description, footnotes);

  • Make sure all figures and tables citations in the text match the files provided;

  • Specify whether color should be used for any figures in print;

  • Reference list: a list of sources that have been cited in the text arranged in the order they appeared within the text. In the meantime, citing of references within the text (in-text citations) in the Numerical style, sources are identified by a number in square brackets (i.e. [ ]), starting with 1. These numerals connect to a numbered list of references at the end of the article;

  • When Web references are cited, the full URL should at least be given and the date when the reference was last accessed.

Reviewing Process

The journal initially runs  double-blind review process (that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process). All contributions will be evaluated by the editor for suitability for the journal from the originality, written language and the essential scientific content. After passing this stage, three copies of the research deprived of name of the researcher (or researchers) are sent to three expert reviewers chosen by the editorial board. The selection of reviewer is depending mainly on the specific area of the research. A period up to one month is given to the reviewer. In case the editor receives no response, the reviewer will be replaced. The acceptance of any research for publication requires at least two final acceptance out of three decisions. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles. The Editor's decision is final.

Publishing Process

When the research is accepted by the editor, the corresponding author will be provided with the amendments, corrections and annotations asked by the reviewers. The corresponding author should utilize this proof only for checking the typesetting, editing, completeness and correctness of the text, tables and figures. Significant changes to the article as accepted for publication will only be considered at this stage with permission from the Editor. A final revised version, according to the template form (given below) must be submitted to the journal office on CD-ROM within two months of receiving the remarks of the reviewers. It is important to ensure that all corrections are sent back to the editors' office in one communication. Subsequently, the official letter of acceptance will be issued. A delivered printed page is given to the researcher included instructions of research publication carried out in the journal and the contexts that must be observed when printing.
