Hong Kong Pools – Cool Off in Style This Summer

We’re not gonna lie, the summers in Hong Kong can be brutal. From blazing sun to insufferable humidity, the heat of the city can leave you feeling sticky all over. Cool down by taking a dip at one of Hong Kong’s most beautiful hotel pools. These luxuriant swimming areas, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the iconic skyline of Hong Kong, will have you cooling down in style this summer.

Located on the 76th floor of W Hong Kong, this rooftop pool is a big draw for swimmers thanks to its stunning views of the city and harbour. Aside from its opulent pool, the rooftop also has a jacuzzi and plenty of deckchairs for lazing around. The rooftop bar serves up drinks and cocktails, while high-speed WiFi keeps you connected even as you soak up the view.

While most LCSD pools reopened after the strike ended, there were some that had to shut down temporarily due to lifeguard shortages. This is likely to continue this summer with the onset of the peak season. To help alleviate the situation, a number of pools have started offering extra staff on shifts. In addition, a number of pools have begun opening late on weekdays and offering more extended hours on weekends.

One of the most popular public pools in Hong Kong is Ma On Shan Swimming Pool, which overlooks Tolo Harbour. It’s large and has a main pool along with spectator stands that can hold 1,200 people. In addition, it has a few smaller training and teaching pools and a toddler’s pool filled with whimsical water installations, like mushroom and tree-shaped fountains. The pool is also home to four waterslides, two of which are said to be the fastest in Hong Kong.

Another famous pool in Hong Kong is the Island Shangri-La. This pool may not have as expansive ocean vistas as some other pools, but it makes up for it by being right in the heart of downtown. Located in Admiralty, this outdoor pool is surrounded by skyscrapers and the bustle of the city centre. Swim a few laps before heading to the al fresco Fish Bar and Pool Lounge to refresh yourself with a cool drink or bite to eat.
